Bible Time Lines.
DESCRIPTION.
The tables provided IN THIS SECTION have three columns: the first representing the cumulative years of passing time as provided directly from scripture, and the second has the life span of a person, or the length of a given time period. The third column has brief passages of scripture to show the Bible reference and some description. Commentary provided in braces {} is given to clarify the scripture choices. The intent is not to produce a precisely accurate time line, but to show the relative years to better frame people and events from the pages of scripture. The record of scripture does provide a reasonably accurate outline, and presents the idea that the age of the earth can be measured in several thousands years, not in millions. Some of the wording from the KJV in these reference passages, when coupled with the years and comments, may also shed some light on details and inferences that might be overlooked in similarly worded passages. The count of years in the first table begins with the creation of Adam by God, and Genesis states Adam's age at a few different points in his life. Because of a new beginning, the count of years begins in the second table with the great flood that destroyed all having the breath of life, , except those in the ark. There is no attempt to correlate the accumulation of years in these tables with the system of BC or BCE, and the count progresses forwards, not backwards. It is hoped that the tables will highlight the overlap and the intertwining, of peoples lives, and of major events, during the Old Testament period.
